Boris Benic and Associates recently received the 2020 Best of Garden City Award in Accounting. The award honors the achievements and accomplishments of local businesses. It spotlights those that use best practices to implement programs offering advantages and long-term benefits to Garden City.

Logo for the Best of 2020 Garden City AwardsCommunity is a word heard often in our office. We’ve worked hard to establish good relationships with other businesses and community partners in Garden City, and were thrilled to be identified as a company that enhances our town!
Here are my thoughts on why it matters to build strong ties to your community:
  • Gives you a sense of belonging. Every community has its one individual identity, from the mom-and-pop bakery that sells to-die-for bear claws to the trusted CPA. When a business is involved in the community, they easily recognize how their decisions impact their neighbors.
  • It’s mutually beneficial. A community and its businesses impact one another. They can relate to each other’s struggles, learn from each other’s experiences, and build each other up. Most importantly, the health of the community has a direct impact on the health of its businesses.
  • Involvement is good for business. Community residents appreciate organizations that give back to the community and are more likely to direct their business there than to a less involved business.
  • Opportunity to learn from others. Business owners that are involved in the community get the chance to meet and surround themselves with community leaders, business owners, and professionals who can share their own unique perspective and knowledge.
If you’re not active in your community, I would encourage you to get involved. Personally, I love knowing Boris Benic and Associates is helping my Garden City neighbors achieve more. The whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts.
