There are so many reasons why people decide to start a business. Some are destined to be entrepreneurs, hungry to put their mark on the business world.
Boris Benic is one of those people. He always wanted to open his own business, but family responsibilities prevented him from taking the leap. After all, he was happy and successful as a Senior Manager at PwC, until the day he realized he had to make a decision: either work towards a partnership at PwC or start his own business.
Boris’ new enterprise thrived from the beginning. In fact, a few years after he founded Boris Benic and Associates LLP, Boris was so busy he asked his friend and former PwC colleague, Robert Puerto, to assist with a project. Robert agreed. Upon completion of that project, Robert signed on full-time with Boris Benic and Associates. Today, 28 years later, Boris and his partner Robert run a successful accounting, tax and consulting firm. Collectively, their team has over 85 years of experience.
The idea of starting a business can be scary and intimidating, but also extremely satisfying. Here are some factors that drive entrepreneurs, including Boris, to go out on their own.
Be in charge.
The biggest motivator for people to start a business is the desire to be their own boss and to be in control of their own destiny.
Make more money.
Many people are driven to start a business for financial needs. In fact, numerous companies start as side businesses to generate extra income but turn into full-time endeavors.
Make it personal.
Some people find the idea of working for large corporations with hundreds of offices and thousands of employees too impersonal, preferring to create something more personal and unique.
For Boris, starting his own accounting firm has been extremely rewarding. He has grown Boris Benic and Associates LLP into a leading CPA and business consulting firm in Long Island.
