It’s a new year! And while 2020 is finally behind us, it’s still visible through the rearview mirror. Without a doubt, the pandemic had the biggest impact on our lives last year. And while there is positive change coming, our current situation will continue to impact our lives for the foreseeable future.
I recently met with my team of financial experts at Boris Benic and Associates for a lively virtual discussion about how to advise and support our clients this year. Although we can’t predict the future, we can monitor and analyze trends and share our collective insights.
“Take your business online,” said Lourdes Michel, our Senior Accountant. “Last year forced us all to reinvent the way we do business. For product-based businesses, that meant taking their business online.” Having an online presence has always been important. Last year, that need became critical.
My partner, Robert Puerto, always tells business owners to prepare for the unexpected. “It seems impossible to plan for the unknown, but I like to tell people to focus on the unique needs of their business and the changes that could affect it. If we don’t see another stimulus plan for a few months, will that have an adverse effect on your business? If you’ve been counting on that influx of money, consider setting up a line of credit so you have access to as much cash as you need to get through the next few months.”
Chris Benic, our Tax Manager, thinks it’s wise to embrace eco-friendly business practices. “Regardless of how you feel about climate change and environmental consciousness, adopting planet-friendly practices is good for business. Going green would deliver energy cost savings, provide tax credits, and improve your image.”
And, of course, take time to network. As I’ve always said, business is about networking, especially now that we’re limited to where we go. If you want your business and brand to be top of mind, make impactful connections in your community.
Speaking of networking, I’d love to stay in touch with you. Connect with me on LinkedIn for more business insights, and the occasional #DadJoke!
